In a clinical trial, researchers used a brain-computer interface combined with AI to help a woman who had been unable to speak for 18 years due to paralysis communicate again. The system translates her brain activity into spoken words in real time using AI driven decoding of neural signals, potentially giving a voice back to people who have lost the ability to speak.
